Bruce Conrad has been involved in live theater since 1994 when he played Pa Tubbs in the production of Possum City, USA at the Valley Center Playhouse. He was exceptional from the very beginning and was awarded Best Character Actor of the year for this performance at the annual VCP Awards Ceremony. He has come full circle with his latest project as a director of this same play. His experience prior to this was one stake production in his youth along with a series of theater workshops. He first came to the Valley Center Playhouse as an audience member with complimentary tickets given to him by Keith and Jody Renstrom. Little did he know how this would change his life...

"After that performance, Jody marched across the theater and said, 'I want you to be in my next play!'. That's how I came to perform...Since that time, I have performed in a dozen or so plays at VCP, including, Papa and the Playhouse, Under Both Flags, Shadowbrook Mansion, Christmas in Colorado, Jake's Corner, Conflict Turns To Love, Tom Sawyer, See How They Run, Curses Foiled Again," among many others.

Bruce has continued to share his talents throughout the community participating in performances at the Scera Shell (Pirates of Penzance and Fiddler on the Roof as the Rabbi), in a production presented at Brigham Young University's Marriott Center, and in the LDS produced movie "Mountain of the Lord" as a stone worker in the quarry.

Bruce went on to receive many more awards at the Valley Center Playhouse including the highest honor, the LeRoy Wilcox award given to honor special achievement and contribution. This was awarded to Bruce and his wife Sara Anne whom he also met at the theater. They were cast as husband and wife twice before marrying in 2004.

"I have come to truly enjoy performing in theater, and this experience has given me increased confidence in my private and professional life as well. Last year, I tried my hand at directing Possum City USA, and, though it was very demanding work, it was a very rewarding experience. I greatly appreciate the VCP and wish to thank Keith and Jody for all that they offer me and the entire community. Also, I have truly enjoyed association and working with many many wonderful people who I would not have known otherwise" -Bruce Conrad

~Special Thanks~

"Bruce is an exceptional mind when it comes to acting and theater all around. He is a wonderful person and it is nothing less than a pleasure to work with him or under him. He always is sure to do a great job with whatever role or responsibility he has been entrusted with and always executes his duties without hesitation or complication. I personally have worked with Bruce on a number of projects and come to know him quite well and hope to have the opportunity to work with him many more times in the future." -Tyler Renstrom

"He's been a very valued actor and director for many years and is a joy to work with." -Keith and Jody Renstrom
